Contemporary Art & Culture Studio

Building community through art, conversation, and experience.

Refusés is an experimental art and culture studio based in London and New York. The project was conceived as an alternative to conventional gallery models. From its inception, Refusés has been structured around the question of what it means to be a gallerist today, placing artistic practice, exchange, and collaboration at the center of our activity.

Refusés approaches the exhibition space as a site of exchange rather than a neutral container: a meeting point for ideas, people, objects, and timelines, where meaning is actively engaged with through encounter. The gallery develops exhibitions and special projects that investigate what happens when contemporary art moves beyond the white cube, testing how artworks function within dynamic, social, and site-responsive contexts.

Rooted in our local ecosystems, but operating internationally, Refusés prioritizes artist-centered methodologies and long-term collaborations built through research, experimentation, and mobility. By working across different geographies and cultural frameworks, the gallery contributes to an international conversation while maintaining a strong commitment to forward-thinking, collaborative exhibition-making.
